Day 1

Today, August 7, 2011, I have started a new diet plan.  I know, I know, who doesn't start a deit and quit it in a week?  I think that's part of the reason I'm doing this blog, so I have someone to help keep me accountable, even if it is just me.

Some background on the diet, I have tried this diet plan before.  It's one based on your blood type.  As I am a type A, according to this plan I am essentially supposed to be vegan.  That's a HUGE change for me, someone who was raised eating meat and cheese and potatoes everyday (or 6 days out of 7).  I have decided to do this a little at a time.  Like dinner tonight was fish and chips.  I had the fish (something I can eat) and maybe 10 chips (french fries).  I also has a pretty big salad and some beans.  Dessert was yogurt.  I know, I just said I'm supposed to try being vegan so why am I eating yogurt?  Because it's on my allowed list.  As for the fries, I'm sorry, I can't not eat a few if I didn't then I'd be trying to eat all of them that were cooked.

Lunch today was at Burger King.  Yeah, again how does that work?  Thankfully they have a veggie burger, which isn't too bad.  Instead of fries, I had onion rings.

Breakfast was chocolate chip pancakes.  I'm allowed a little chocolate, and that's all I had today, so that's not bad.  Besides, how can you tell a woman who's near her time of the month that they can't have chocolate?

A little background as to why I want to lose weight.  I am currently 35, married, with 2 kids (9 year-old son and 3 year-old daughter).  I currently weigh 265 pounds.  I also have Graves' Disease, which is a hyperactive thyroid.  I am currently in remission, for the second time.  I want to see if losing the excess weight I have will help keep it in remission.  I have set a goal to lose 100 pounds in the next year.  I know that's a lot of weight, but I think I can do it.  No, wait, I KNOW I can do it!!

PS...It doesn't hurt that I have a high school reunion coming in 2 years.  I wouldn't want to wait too long to try to lose the weight.
